Meet Margaret Mealy
Bringing Heart to Every Home in Texoma
Margaret Mealy’s path into real estate is rooted in curiosity, connection, and a genuine love for helping people navigate meaningful life moments. What began as an unexpected opportunity quickly grew into a career built on strong relationships, local knowledge, and a deep appreciation for homes with character. Over time, Margaret developed a reputation for her thoughtful approach, attention to detail, and dedication to helping clients find a home that truly fits their needs and lifestyle.
How It All Started
Margaret had always had a desire for real estate, but it wasn’t until a conversation at a networking event that her journey truly took off. At the time, she was exploring new career opportunities, and although real estate hadn’t been on her radar, her interest in homes sparked a desire to learn more.
Her curiosity led her to Stacey Olmstead, who took Margaret under her wing and encouraged her to earn her real estate license while working alongside her. Through this mentorship, Margaret gained invaluable hands-on experience and learned the intricacies of the business. By that summer, they formed a real estate team, turning what began as a chance connection into a career Margaret truly loves.
Finding Her Place in Real Estate
Margaret was drawn to real estate not for awards or recognition, but for the opportunity to help friends, family, and her community navigate one of the biggest decisions of their lives. She enjoys the variety that comes with the role, from touring unique properties to problem-solving for clients in complex transactions. Each day brings new experiences, new challenges, and new opportunities to learn and grow. When asked what her favorite house style was, she said, "I love older homes and buildings. There is so much character and craftsmanship found in older homes that are non-existent in modern homes. Original hardwood floors, shiplap, wainscoting, crown molding, pocket doors, built-in shelving, cabinets, and cubbies... they are such a treasure and I love to see them saved and preserved!"
Life Outside the Listings
A Texoma native, Margaret brings invaluable local knowledge to her clients. She enjoys her neighborhood along Main Street in Denison, where she can walk downtown or to a nearby baseball field and open park with her dog, Tobey, a 90-pound Great Pyrenees/Border Collie mix. He loves playing fetch in the open field, though he doesn’t always bring the ball back. She also shares her home with two cats, Toulouse and Myrtle, who add personality and joy to her daily routine. Her appreciation for nature and outdoor activities means she can often be found hiking, walking, or exploring the beautiful local trails. As she puts it, "Tobey and the cats make every day a little brighter."
Outside of real estate, Margaret is deeply involved in her community. She plays flute in the Sherman Symphony Orchestra and serves on its board of directors, contributing to concerts and educational programs that bring music to all ages. She is also on the board of Downtown Sherman NOW, helping organize events that celebrate local culture and community, like the Wine Stroll and holiday festivities. Her previous work as an events coordinator at a local upscale restaurant and at a vineyard provided her with strong customer service skills, which now translate seamlessly into her work with clients.
Why Texoma and Paragon
Growing up in Texoma gave Margaret a strong connection to the area and a deep understanding of its people. She appreciates the tight-knit community, the vibrant local culture, and the many opportunities to support the growth and well-being of the region. When asked why Paragon, Margaret responded, "Once I started at Paragon it didn't take long to realize that it's truly the best! Everyone is like family and we all want to see each other succeed. The agents and staff members are always extremely helpful and supportive of one another. I also think we have the most fun!"
Words of Wisdom
For Buyers: “Always get pre-qualified before making an offer. Always get a home inspection. Listen to your agent!”
For Sellers: “Hiring an agent from a big city an hour away doesn’t make them better. Price your home right the first time. Listen to your agent!”
For Fellow Agents: “Please leave feedback. Know how to properly fill out a lead-based paint addendum. Don’t be a pain to work with—we’re all working toward the same goal!”
Real estate, for Margaret, is about more than transactions; it’s about helping people find home and happiness in the place that’s right for them, and that is what she strives to do every day. Whether you’re just starting your search, preparing to sell, or simply need advice, Margaret is here to walk with you through it all!
